How it all got started Together David and Jane Brown were the founders and Principals of The School of ICASA, a sexual healing centre for training in intimacy, sexual healing and relationship skills. David is an ordained Interfaith Minister and spiritual counsellor, sex researcher, educator and seminar speaker. Jane and David were married for thirty four years and raised three children. David and Jane maintain that a personal inward faith and spiritual understanding is a neglected essential in building strong, enduring relationships and in helping individuals to release their full potential in personal life issues. It was this that lead them, during the 1980's, into eight years of counselling work in the area of rehabilitation of people with drug and solvent addiction, alcoholism and other life-controlling problems. During this time David and Jane identified that sexual needs, insecurities and anxieties were more than frequently at the root of many of the social problems with which they were presented. Following this, aided by their experience as professional Trainers which spanned their career during the 1970's, they gained specific experience and training in dealing with people with sexual dysfunction through their work in the British Diagnostic Clinic in Florida, USA, from '91 to '93. In 1991, David and Jane were asked to help in the development of an Impotence Treatment Clinic which was being opened in Orlando, Florida. During the next two and a half years in America, they researched and studied the subject of sexuality and the treatment of sexual dysfunctions, identifying a lack of appropriate treatment options available for men and women with psychogenic sexual problems and difficulties. They studied the methods of Masters and Johnson, the Sex Therapy Institute of Boston, and in particular the role of Surrogate Partner Therapy. In 1993, David and Jane returned to London and The School of ICASA opened the following year. Building upon proven methods published by Bill Masters and Virginia Johnson in the 1960's, with the training and support of IPSA, the advice of professional medical practitioners and therapists and, combined with their own belief structure and personal discoveries, David and Jane began educating men and women through sexual training modules which they have called ICASA - Inward Confidence and Sensual Awareness. Although Jane passed away in February 2006 her influence and energy remains as vital at The School of ICASA as ever before. With the help and support of the ICASA staff team David has continued his work and endeavours to further develop the ways in which the ICASA modules can bring healing into the lives of others.
